365 days of book(ish)
From discussing Dolly Alderton’s Ghosts at great length during lockdown number 73672647 to having 20 whole episodes of book(ish) in the world and we’ve reached our 1 year anniversary!! Woo!!!
Our bonus ep where we discuss all our best bits, some of the most chaotic parts and wrap up the year is now live as a music+talk ep over on Spotify (and without music on all other platforms) but we also wanted to put a few thoughts to paper about the last year.
It’s all a bit mental to think that we’ve managed to be (fairly) consistent with publishing episodes, reading books and chatting shit every fortnight for 365 days.
We’ve discussed dating apps at length, from whether we’d take a DNA test to find ‘the one’ after reading John Marrs’ novel The One to how brutal ghosting and modern dating apps are after finding solace in Dolly Alderton’s Ghosts.
We’ve fallen in love with the words written by Brit Bennett in The Vanishing Half and have been true stan’s of Taylor Jenkins Reid. We’ve been #influenced by bookstagram and discussed The Authenticity Project by Clare Pooley and Half A World Away by Mike Gayle and we’ve immersed ourselves into the world of Lara-Jean Covey through the works of Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy.
We’ve discovered that we’re secretly boy band fans (well, Kath is anyway) and obsessed over Disney’s new film Encanto (well, Elle did anyway). We’ve had chaotic bottomless brunch dates and put out some chaotic episodes. We’ve struggled with tech issue after tech issue and are emotionally scarred by our attempts to record an episode of Olive by Emma Gannon.
But despite multiple tech issues we’ve learnt how to produce, edit and publish a podcast with absolutely no experience. We’ve grown our social media channels from scratch. And we’ve become obsessed with wordle (if you know, you know).
We’ve both moved houses (multiple times), survived lockdowns and muddled through being millennials in London spending far too much money on avocados obviously. We’ve put our friendship to the test and are more codependent than ever before.
We’ve had the best 365 days in the world with this podcast and we hope you love it as much as we do, thanks for sticking with us! Here’s to another 365 days of talking about books… ish.
